Honouring Our Roots, Advancing Our Future

Egbe Obaneye Okunrin Akile Ijebu is a proudly indigenous association of noble Ijebu sons bound by a shared commitment to cultural preservation, brotherhood, service, and leadership.

Established through an inaugural gathering held at the historic Rolak Hotel (now Equity Hotel), our Egbe has grown from a single meeting into a vibrant, impactful movement.
With the blessing and royal charter of Alaiyeluwa Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, CFR, JP, GCON, Ogbagba II, Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, we officially began a journey of honour, unity, and contribution to our homeland.
Today, we are over 150 active members strong, standing as a symbol of what is possible when vision, values, and tradition meet.

Our Story

On June 28, 2022, at the Heritage Hall in Afin Awujale, our association received its traditional recognition in a colourful and spiritual ceremony graced by prominent sons and daughters of Ijebuland. That day marked the beginning of a new chapter in our collective journey—one filled with vision, structure, and purpose.

Since then, our story has been one of growth, resilience, and impact. From 98 founding members to our present strength, Egbe Obaneye has continued to uphold its promise: to remain a force for unity, development, and cultural relevance in Akile Ijebu.

Our Identity

We are not just a social group—we are a living symbol of the Ijebu spirit: proud, resourceful, respectful, and resilient. Our members include professionals, entrepreneurs, academics, and public servants, all committed to a singular mission: to honour our roots while actively shaping a better future for our people.

Though diverse in perspective, we remain unshakably united—guided by an internal code of respect, dignity, and accountability.

“Ìjọ ìṣọ̀kan ni ń dá ilé ayé lókun.”
(A house built on unity stands firm.)

Our Mission

  • To promote the social, cultural, and economic advancement of our members and Akile Ijebu at large.
  • To preserve and celebrate the time-honoured traditions of Ijebuland.
  • To foster brotherhood, mutual support, and shared prosperity among our members.
  • To contribute meaningfully to the growth and progress of our community and the next generation.

Our Vision

To be a pillar of excellence, unity, and cultural pride—a trusted and progressive indigenous association that uplifts Ijebuland through service, collaboration, and visionary leadership.

Our Core Values

Ìwà Omolúàbí (Character): Honour, discipline, and moral uprightness guide our actions.
Unity: We cherish togetherness, no matter our individual paths.
Respect for Culture: Our heritage is not a costume—it’s our identity.
Service: We give back to society with humility and intention.
Accountability: Leadership, integrity, and transparency are non-negotiable.

A Brotherhood Like No Other

In Egbe Obaneye, there are no strangers—only brothers. We celebrate milestones together, support one another in times of need, and walk hand-in-hand as proud custodians of our legacy.

Despite our differences in profession, tribe of wives, or political leanings, one truth remains:

“Ẹgbẹ́ wa kò ní yà, kí Ọlọ́run jẹ́ kó pé.”
(May our brotherhood never divide; may God preserve it in peace.)

Leadership Rooted in Service

Our Egbe is blessed with visionary leaders who understand that leadership is not about status—it is about service, humility, and sacrifice. Guided by a robust constitution and supported by strong executive structures, we continue to evolve with discipline and direction.
