Egbe Obaneye Okunrin Akile ljebu was borne out of the cultural imperialism and heritage in ljebu land. The activities of the Egbe is overseen by lnter Regberegbe in Council.
In the heart of Ijebuland, where the drums of Ojude Oba echo our ancestors’ spirit and the Oriki Ogbagba chants “Omo Ogbagba Agbatewole, Omo alogogun sa karakara laja,” Egbe Obaneye Okunrin Akile Ijebu stands as a pillar of heritage and progress. We are a brotherhood of over 150 Ijebu sons, born between 1983 and 1985, united by honor, purpose, and a royal mandate from Alaiyeluwa Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, CFR, JP, GCON, Ogbagba II, Awujale & Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland. This is our story, a tapestry of culture, unity, and impact.
“Ẹgbẹ́ kì í yà, ẹgbọ́n kì í fọ, ìwà ni í jẹ́ kó pé.”
(A brotherhood thrives not by its size, but by its character.)”
Our journey began in 2019 at Rolak Hotel (now Equity Hotel) in Ijebu-Ode, where Ijebu sons gathered to forge a brotherhood rooted in shared heritage. On June 28, 2022, at Heritage Hall, Afin Awujale, our Royal Blessing and Traditional Ceremony, led by Baba Egbe Alhaji Olukayode Bakare (Executive Director, Wema Bank) and Iya Egbe Alhaja Sakirat Ajoke Agbaje, cemented our place in Ijebuland’s legacy. From 98 founding members, we’ve grown to a vibrant community of over 150, each a steward of Ijebu pride.
On June 30, 2023, at Alfred Susan Event Centre, Onirugba, Ijebu-Ode, we celebrated the conferment of chieftaincy titles, honoring members like Apagunpote Mr. Olawale Badmus and Yeye Apagunpote Mrs. Omotola Badmus, Borokini Egbe Adebowale Ogunwo, Oluomo Egbe Abiodun Olaitan Banjo, and Kakanfo Egbe Adedeji Kukoyi.
These titles are crowns of service, reflecting our commitment to Ijebuland’s growth.
